Once more around the lake Donate One more time… A year ago I ran the 14.1 miles around Coniston Water in the Lake District to raise funds for the remarkable Neuro Therapy Centre. It was a wonderful event and the money raised has been very well spent, as over the last year the Centre has had a major upgrade of its exercise facilities. The new gym is dedicated to the people with neurological conditions such as MS and Parkinson’s who depend upon it and its team of highly trained staff for their physical and mental wellbeing. Kathy has been a member for almost ten years and attends twice a week for gym and pilates. As well as being a key element in helping her stay active and well, it is also fun, as the Physio and Fitness team ensure a brilliant, positive atmosphere. The Centre is a charity and relies entirely on donations for funding for the incredible work it does. We are so lucky to have it here in Chester. It would be brilliant if you’re able to support my run. It will be different this year as I am a year older and I won’t be dragged around by my nephew and his two youthful pals. I also now know that as well as completing a half marathon and then running another mile, it involves almost 1000 feet of ascent. The Jelly Babies will be ready, let’s just hope the knees are too! At 64, running around a hilly Lakeland course is a challenge, but that is nothing compared to what Kathy and tens of thousands of other people with neurological conditions face every day. Exercise is proven to be hugely beneficial for mental and physical health. By supporting the Centre you are directly improving lives. andy porter Manage Cookie Preferences
